Air temperature and sea temperature run about two months out of step, which catches people out. May, June, September and October are the best value months on this coast. The sea is warmest in August and September, not July. Winter daytime highs sit in the mid teens, which is why so many owners come out in January.
People book this coast on the strength of one number: 300 days of sunshine. It is broadly true, and it is also not very useful when you are trying to decide between April and October.

Daytime highs in the mid teens, cold enough at night that you will want the heating on, and almost always sunny. This is when a lot of our owners come out themselves. You can walk, play golf, eat outside at lunchtime and not see a crowd anywhere. You will not be swimming in the sea.
March is the turn. By the end of it the terraces fill up again.
April is pleasant but can throw a wet week at you. May is close to perfect: low twenties, barely any rain, and the sea has warmed enough that brave people get in. June is properly summer without August prices or August crowds.
If someone asks us when to come and has no fixed constraints, we say May or June.
July and August are hot. Not pleasantly warm, genuinely hot, with highs into the low thirties and nights that stay warm. Air conditioning stops being a nice extra and becomes the reason you sleep. Everything is open, everything is busy, everything costs more.
September is the quiet winner. The air starts easing back into the twenties while the sea is still at its warmest of the year, the schools have gone home, and the restaurants are no longer three deep. If you can travel in September, do.
October is still a beach month, with the sea in the low twenties, though it brings the heaviest rain of the year. When it rains here it does it properly and then stops, so a wet day is usually a wet few hours.
November and December settle into that mild, bright winter pattern again. Christmas on a terrace in sixteen degrees is one of the things that persuades people to buy here.
Air temperature and sea temperature are out of step by roughly two months. The air peaks in August, the sea peaks late August into September, and in May the air can feel like summer while the water is still bracing. If swimming matters to you, read the sea column, not the air one.
The weather is the reason the shoulder season on this coast is longer than almost anywhere else in Europe, and the shoulder season is where owner income is won or lost. July and August fill themselves. May, June, September and October are the months that separate a property doing eighty percent occupancy from one doing fifty.
